I have an unhealthy obsession with garland. It’s almost as bad as my chevron obsession. I just love having pretty garland decorating my walls. However, most garland is only acceptable to hang during a holiday or someone’s birthday. Once I laid my eyes on Confetti System‘s tassel garland, I was smitten. I just don’t know if I can justify the heavy price tag that it carries. I decided to give a shot at DIY’ing my own tassel garland. I also added my own glittery twist.

What you need to make this tassel garland:

Steps:

5. Repeat the above steps for multiple sheets of paper. I found it easier to fold all my sheets in one sitting and then cut them all in one sitting before proceeding to the next steps.

6. One at a time, unfold each sheet then fold down the uncut center longways overlapping the tissue paper.

It should look like the picture above once you are done folding.

7. Once you reach the end of tissue paper, use your glue gun to glue down the last piece.

9. Glue one side to the other side leaving the loop open and unglued.

This is what each individual tassel should look like.
10. Repeat steps 6 through 9 for each sheet of tissue paper until all sheets are complete and look like the above picture.
11. If you like, take glitter spray and spray the ends of your tassel garland. I did this for the white tassels I made and it gave them a very nice glittery ombre effect.
12. String the tassels on the rope trim and hang.

  2. Love it! So cute. How did you get each tassle to hang spaced apart like that so they don’t droop together where the rope dips down?

    • Thanks! I just strung them on there and made sure the rope was tight enough across so that it didn’t droop in the middle. The tassels are pretty light since they are made of tissue paper, so I didn’t have a problem with them drooping.
